Harvest Apple Crisp

Thanks linus_art!

Wow! Can you believe it's now fall? With fall comes a wide variety of apples that are in season for making pies, cakes, cobblers and apple crisps. I would like to share an apple crisp recipe this month. After baking this one, taste it and you will want to make it again and again.

Before I share this quick and easy recipe, I would like to thank the Terressentials Team for all their undivided help, devotion and sacrifice they made in tasting my new recipes through the summer. I'd especially like to thank them for sampling the cakes I made so that my grand kids could use these recipes for cake competitions in 4-H, at the local community shows, Maryland State fair and our Frederick County fair. I realize how tough this task was— judging if the cake was moist and whether it had a good taste and texture. We struggled through these taste tests together and it paid off. My granddaughter baked a reserve champion cake and my grandson received several blue ribbons to show for this dedication and sacrifice. At the 4-H cake auction, my grandson's cake sold for $300 and my granddaughter's cake sold for $250— wow! Thank you so much again Terressentials team for egging me on and being willing to try the new recipes.

Thanks ryan_ready!

A Simple Desert: Apple Crisp

4 medium tart organic apples peeled and sliced
¾ cup organic brown sugar
½ cup organic all purpose flour
½ cup quick cooking or old fashioned organic oats
1/3 cup softened organic butter (plus some extra for greasing baking dish)
¾ tsp organic cinnamon

Heat oven to 350°. Grease bottom and sides of 8'' baking dish with the extra butter. Spread apples in baking dish. In medium bowl, stir sugar, flour, oats, butter and cinnamon together until well mixed. Sprinkle over apples.

Bake 30 minutes until topping is golden brown and apples are tender when pierced with fork. Serve warm with, cream, milk or ice cream. Enjoy!
