In The Beginning There Was Fragrance-free...

Terressentials' Organic Fragrance-free Facial Care products have stood the test of time. One of our first product lines, the effective, simple “fragrance-free” formulas are based on traditional, calming herbs that have been used for centuries. No high tech chemistry involved, just years of careful research.

The popularity of the Organic Fragrance-free Facial Care line is very easy to explain: the products are organic, simple, clean, and they work. The all-organic, all-botanical formulas contain minimal ingredients, no essential oils, and of course, absolutely no chemical fragrances, making them ideal for any skin type, especially highly sensitive or troubled skin.

The Fragrance-free line began way back in 1992, when a year after opening their small, mail order business, Terressentials co-founders Diana Kaye and Jim Hahn created their first Terressentials product, the 100% Organic Fragrance-free Moisture Cream.

“From day one everything was always done with an eye toward become certified,” Kaye says, even though organic certification for body care companies and their products did not exist at the time.

Formerly in the interior design and architecture fields, Kaye and Hahn were already specialists in non-toxic design. Their research on toxins in building materials quickly led to further investigations of toxins in cleaning and body care products. What they found was alarming. Their main goal in starting Terressentials 25 years ago was to offer books and non-toxic products that would educate customers and provide them with alternatives to commonly-used, highly toxic household products.

However, sourcing ready-made, clean, non-toxic body care products to sell was nearly impossible. It became evident that Terressentials would have to make the products themselves. As Kaye and Hahn took steps to develop the 100% organic moisture cream, they also perfected an organic lotion, an olive oil cleanser base and an organic toner, which became the wonderfully calming, effective and affordable Organic Fragrance-free Facial Care line we know today.
